Pupils attend a hearing on the women’s quota in the Bundestag
After a train journey of just over an hour and a half, the twelve sixth-formers from Hamburg arrived in freezing Berlin and made it on time to the public hearing on the women’s quota in the Bundestag on 16 January 2013.
The reason the young people are able to follow the invited experts’ presentations – some of which are highly detailed and technical – so well is that they themselves spent a week studying the issue of women’s quotas in depth as part of the ‘discourse learning’ project run by the Hamburger Stiftung für Wirtschaftsethik. And, incidentally, the visit also led to the realisation that politicians and experts are ‘just people like you and me’.
