How we got started…

A charitable foundation dedicated to issues of business ethics – who is behind it and how did it come about? The foundation’s founder, Christian Steinberg, a former entrepreneur, and its managing director, Dr Jesco Kreft, a former management consultant and journalist, conceived the idea in 2005.

The foundation was laid by an understanding of economics combined with a shared normative mindset. This combination, which stems from the conviction that moral problems must be translated into economic terms in order to be addressed by an economic system, is not only reflected in our mission. It is also the common thread that runs through all our projects and thus shapes our work.
