Lessons in the ethos project

Each ethos module presents a case study. This enables pupils to gain fundamental insights that can be applied to other cases, problems and situations.

To ensure the widest possible uptake, care is taken to ensure that the topics tie in with traditional economics and politics lessons. The teaching units are designed to fit as seamlessly as possible into the standard structure of the economics and politics curriculum.

The ethos modules contain illustrative case studies, worksheets designed to engage pupils and ready-to-photocopy slide templates. This makes it easy for teachers to teach this new subject area in an engaging way.

How can the ethos modules be used?

As modular building blocks, all ethos teaching units are self-contained. They can be used individually, as they contain all the information and materials required for teaching.

Ideally, modules that complement one another effectively should be combined, as their development and organisation are based on a subject-specific systematic approach. Guidance on how best to make this selection can be found under ‘Didactic Principles’.
