Case studies: Protest and participation in Germany

Aircraft noise in Frankfurt am Main, the controversy surrounding ‘Stuttgart 21’, protests against the planned power line: examples of protest and civic engagement can be found virtually everywhere. We have reviewed and analysed a number of such cases and provided guidance on how to address them in the classroom.

We have prepared the case studies on the following pages in such a way that they can be used in the classroom with minimal effort, based on the factual analysis and the didactic and methodological guidance provided. We recommend using our materials on ‘Mitte Altona’ as a guide. For methodological guidance, we have provided further suggestions and links on this website in the ‘Protest & Participation’ section.
