Hamburger Stiftung für Wirtschaftsethik leaves X/Twitter

For some time now, we have been observing a trend on X/Twitter that is increasingly at odds with our foundation’s ideals regarding the capacity for discourse, judgement and criticism in a free and democratic society.

Resolving conflicts of values and tackling socio-political challenges requires open, constructive discourse that takes facts, personal freedom and human dignity equally seriously. 

Unfortunately, we are increasingly observing the opposite on X/Twitter: hate, disinformation and troll networks are not only ubiquitous on Twitter/X, but are also not being adequately addressed as problems by the platform’s management. This is a worrying development which is increasingly making it impossible to conduct the necessary rational and responsible social discourse, thereby jeopardising the stability of our democracy and the cohesion of our society. 

We have therefore decided to leave Twitter/X.
